Preparations for CITY CABLE CAR SOLUTIONS 3CS at MOUNTAIN PLANET in Grenoble are in full swing: on 22 April 2026, INTERALPIN’s new international conference and meeting format will bring together key players in urban cable car mobility for a compact day of conferences. The focus will be on current projects, scientific findings and strategic approaches for integrating cable cars into urban transport systems.
Innsbruck/Grenoble, 10.04.2026. CITY CABLE CAR SOLUTIONS 3CS is opening up new perspectives on the role of cable car-based mobility in urban areas at MOUNTAIN PLANET in Grenoble. Organised in cooperation with Congress Messe Innsbruck and Alpexpo, the conference and seminar programme now available specifically addresses the growing international demand for practical solutions and the exchange of international experience. “CITY CABLE CAR SOLUTIONS is designed as a meeting place for manufacturers, transport operators, public authorities, planning offices and decision-makers. It brings together specific projects, technological developments and strategic perspectives,” emphasises Christian Mayerhofer, Managing Director of Congress Messe Innsbruck. “In doing so, 3CS creates a framework for targeted international exchange and for practical insights into a dynamically growing market segment,” adds Jerôme Riff, Managing Director of Alpexpo.
The conference programme on 22 April brings together a range of perspectives from academia and planning, through international industry associations, to operators of relevant infrastructure projects. The conference day will be opened by Salah Regan of the UITP (International Association of Public Transport) with an international overview of the role of cable car systems in urban transport. Alexandre Magny, Managing Director of GART (Groupement des autorités responsables de transport), will then examine the integration of urban cable cars into transport policy strategies, as well as the associated challenges and future prospects. Transport scientist Stephan Tischler (University of Innsbruck) will present current studies and research findings on the potential and limitations of cable cars as urban transport systems, highlighting their impact on mobility, spatial planning and society.
International case studies from France provide insights into specific implementations: Benjamin Croze (Île-de-France Mobilités) presents “Câble 1”, the first urban cable car in the Paris region, which connects several municipalities over a distance of 4.5 kilometres. Francis Grass (Tisséo Ingénierie) presents Téléo in Toulouse as another flagship project and demonstrates how cable cars can be used as an effective complement to existing public transport systems.
A joint panel discussion provides an opportunity for in-depth exchange between speakers and the audience, before a guided tour of the trade fair rounds off the conference day.
CITY CABLE CAR SOLUTIONS 3CS is the new brand of INTERALPIN, the world’s leading trade fair for alpine technologies, and is supported by industry partners Doppelmayr and POMA. The programme combines international perspectives with practical project experience and is aimed at all stakeholders interested in or involved in the planning, implementation and operation of urban mobility solutions using cable cars. The aim is to highlight current developments and facilitate professional exchange across national and market boundaries.
Following its successful debut at INTERALPIN 2025, the second edition of the conference will take place on 22 April 2026 at the Amphithéâtre Jean Prouvé as part of MOUNTAIN PLANET in Grenoble. Further information at: www.citycablecar.solutions
